Global Irish Civic Forum , 4-5 May 2017 in Dublin Castle

Dear Member of the Global Irish Family,

I am delighted to invite you to participate in the second Global Irish Civic Forum on its new dates of 4-5 May 2017 in Dublin Castle.

Throughout my time as Minister for the Diaspora I have seen that the invaluable work that Irish diaspora organisations do in support of the Global Irish is hugely beneficial and has formed a vital link in the wider strategic work of the Government. This Civic Forum is a key opportunity for us to come together and look at how we can better share, improve and demonstrate the value of what we do. I firmly believe this will help us learn from each other and will promote successful ways of working, of running projects and of helping the Irish diaspora.

I am happy to see then that we are developing a tailored and dynamic two day Civic Forum which I know through your participation and input will help improve everyone’s support of the Global Irish by looking at how we can increase the impacts and reach of our work and funding.

It is also a key priority for me that the Civic Forum works to improve connections between different generations, between business and welfare groups, between academics and practitioners and so I hope you will benefit from the diverse and exciting range of contacts and initiatives planned.

Forum participants will examine some of the key issues facing the Irish abroad and will work through and discuss best practice in running effective and sustainable organisations. We will also have panel discussions that will bring together some of the most connected and expert voices in order to fully examine the challenges before us and how we can best respond.

I look forward to seeing all of you in May and over the next two weeks you can register to attend by clicking this link and using the password “DublinCastle”. Those who register will receive more information in March on the programme and how to select the workshops you wish to attend. We are expecting very high demands to please make sure you register early to ensure a place.

Yours sincerely, and warmest regards,
