A lot has happened over the last few months, so here’s the latest IBN news and an opportunity for you to provide input into shaping what comes next.

AGM Update:

The following Committee was voted in during the June AGM for 2018/2019:

  • Aidan Shilling – Secretary
  • Bridget Mullahy – Communications
  • Patrick Ramseyer – Treasurer and ICT lead
  • Paul Shannon – VP and Irish Embassy representative
  • Vincenz Wagner – Enterprise Ireland representative
  • Joanna Long and Therese Langan – Zurich Chapter
  • Trisha Corrigan and Kevin Brady – Basel Chapter
  • Mary Mayenfisch Tobin and Nikki Symmons – Suisse Romande Chapter

During the meeting the 2017 activities were reviewed and the accounts accepted. The new Committee will meet on the 3 November to discuss the next steps for the IBN.

A Message from Geraldine & Brigid, our new Co-Presidents:

“The IBN has made great progress over the last 10 years under Valerie Guertler-Doyle’s leadership. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching it grow and feel privileged to lead its evolution into the next stage, with a solid team beside us and strong leadership in our Zurich, Basel and Suisse Romande Chapters. While we are excited by our vision for the future we know our success ultimately comes down to listening to you about what you want from the Network. So please share with the Committee your ideas and suggestions by Friday 2 November in a survey that will only take a few minutes. We hope one thing will remain constant going forward – that we will continue to support and inspire each other in this home away from home!”

Ireland Trade Mission:

Ambassador Breifne O’Reilly hosted a reception on the 3 October together with Enterprise Ireland to coincide with Minister Pat Breen’s (Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection) visit. During the reception the 10 year anniversary of the IBN Switzerland was acknowledged, with particular focus on the contribution it has made to the Irish business community and Valerie’s vision in founding it. Valerie gave an inspiring speech recounting the setting up of the IBN and some of the memorable events over the years. She was presented with a gift to show our gratitude for all that she has done for the Network.
