Invitation to :Taste Contemporary Craft at Artgenève 2015
The Irish perspective
Taste Contemporary Craft has been selected by Artgenève to curate a special exhibition to showcase the best in contemporary craft at the 4th edition of the international art fair which will run from Thursday January 29th through to Sunday February 1st, 2015 at the Palexpo in Geneva.
Taste champions the work of craft artists who push the boundaries. We include artists from across all craft disciplines many of whom are already established, with works in museums and private collection, as well as up-and-coming artists.
We will present works by 25 artists from around the world. Taste however, has benefited from tapping the rich tradition of craft in Ireland and the exhibition includes a number of prominent Irish craft artists including the ceramists Sarah Flynn (Cork) and Frances Lamb (Allardstown) and wood artist Liam Flynn (Limerick). Additionally, our own management team includes artistic director, Brian Kennedy (Dublin) who has for many years worked with state agencies, museums, galleries and private companies to organize exhibitions and build collections within the craft and design areas including a series of major exhibitions for the Crafts Council of Ireland.
Monique Deul, founder of Taste Contemporary Craft, and SIBA are hosting a special event for the members of the Irish Business Network. Members are welcome to join for a reception which commences from 18:30 onwards at the Taste Contemporary Craft Stand B51. At 19:00 Brian Kennedy will give a short presentation on contemporary craft in which he will highlight the work of the Irish artists participating in the exhibition. A limited number of tickets are available on a first come first served basis.
